MS Office 2010 Beta open Publicly

Microsoft Office 2010 BetaAfter launching of Windows 7, now Microsoft is unleashing another beta product for testing i.e. Microsoft Office 2010. The Office 2010 beta will feature everything minus the online version, which is currently being tested within Microsoft.

Somewhat surprising for a public beta, the Office 2010 beta offers everything in the office suite so it has Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook and all those other programs most people don’t know how to use like OneNote, Access and Publisher. Office 2010 apps still feature the “ribbon” UI found in Office 2007, but it has been changed somewhat. In terms of entirely new features, Outlook will be able to be linked to social networking sites. Wow! That’s awesome feature. First offered is Windows Live (obviously) and LinkedIn will be added sometime early next year. There is also the aforementioned online version, which will be paired with the new SkyDrive feature to give users 25 GB to store and sync their office documents

Canon's new SLR Rebel is coming! - Canon Camera

Leading camera manufacturer Canon has introduced the latest SLR in its Rebel series boasting an 18 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and a wealth of other features.
It will be called EOS 550D in India. (The same model will also have two other names in the world markets: Rebel T2i / Kiss X4 Digital)
Powered by Canon’s DIGIC 4 processor with ISO 100-6400,that can be expanded to 12800 and full HD movie shooting, with manual control and selectable frame rates, it will be the best Rebel introduced so far.
It is an upgrade of the present 500D which has been a hit among the low-end wedding photographers and amateurs and was rated by many as one of the best camera from Canon. As you know, Canon introduced this series as the lowest and most affordable SLR camera line-up. (Later, the company came up with a trimmed down model without the top LCD and some other missing features --the range is now represented by EOS 1000D).
The newest member of the Canon family in several ways is a trimmed down version of the company’s recently introduced professional or semi professional model EOS 7D.
Rivals like Nikon, Olympus, Pentax and Sony have all introduced feature-rich models in the segment. Canon took its time to come up with this model. Apart from the 18 MP sensor what is important is the Full HD movie recording feature that allows manual control and selectable frame rates.
Away from the technical gibberish, what will the camera do for the segment of users it is aiming at?
Definitely , if it lives up to its specs (Canons normally do, don’t they?) it will be the one to beat in the segment. Nikon’s D5000 with its swiveling LCD and several software upgrades may offer it some challenge.
This model has some features which only the top models used to have. It can be coupled with all the modern flashguns from Canon and its great lens line-up. If you have been waiting for an SLR that can shoot very good pictures and very good movies (non-crippled full HD movie mode (1920 x 1080 at up to 30 fps, 720P at 60/50 fps, manual controls, external mic socket) and willing to part with some of your earnings this may be the one for you.
The 550D with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS is expected to cost around Rs 40,000.

No further debate on Thilakan issue: Mammootty

27.02.2010 - "Superstar Mammotty announced here Saturday that it is time to put an end to all the controversies centred on thespian actor Thilakan.

There is no personal antagonism or unfriendly attitude towards Thilakan and what is going on at present is a shadow war with him, mammotty said adding, 'I’m ready to act with Thilakan and is longing to solve the issue very soon.'

There won’t be any further controversy regarding this and the public discussion on the issue ends here, he stated.

On the press meet called by renowned critic Sukumar Azheekode, Mammotty said that he is a noted litterateur who should be standing with truth and justice. It deeply pains to hear Azheekode making references to Mohanlal’s personal life, which are baseless, he said."

Union budget is 'anti-people': VS

"The CPM-led LDF government in Kerala Friday slammed the Union Budget as 'anti-people', alleging the budgetary proposals would only accelerate the current inflationary trend.

Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan said the proposal to impose customs duty on petroleum products and hike in excise duty on non-petroleum products would add misery to the common man, who is already reeling under skyrocketing prices.

The move to step up disinvestment of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) would speed up privatisation, he said, adding there was nothing to help the farm sector. State finance minister T M Thomas Isaac said there was nothing in the Budget to check price rise.

'The plan to mobilise Rs 46,000 crore by increasing excise duty by two per cent on items mainly consumed by the common man will only result in a spurt in prices of essential commodities,' he said.

The budget proposals were very 'disappointing' to Kerala as the Centre’s revenue allocation to it would be less, the minister said. Isaac also flayed the proposal to mobilise Rs 25,000 crore by disinvestment of PSUs, saying the Centre was all set to 'hand over' them to corporate giants."

Sachin Tendulkar should get Bharat Ratna: Kapil, Wadekar

Describing Sachin Tendukar as 'Kohinoor' of cricket, former captains Kapil Dev and Ajit Wadekar today said the milestone man should be conferred Bharat Ratna -- India's highest civilian award.
The record of highest International runs (31,041) and centuries (93) already by his name, Tendulkar on Wednesday became the first cricketer in the history of One-day cricket to score a double hundred in Gwalior.
'Sachin is the Kohinoor diamond of the game of cricket.
This cricketer has unmatched talent and you can't find another Tendulkar ever. I think, he should have got the Bharat Ratna,' Wadekar told PTI Bhasha.
India's only World Cup winning captain Kapil also supported Wadekar's view and said Tendulkar very much deserves the honour.
'Sachin has touched several milestones during his 20-year career in the international cricket. He certainly deserves the Bharat Ratna.

Thilakan's issue Video - Ammayude press conference by Mohanlal Mammootty

Will not comment on Thilakan: Mammootty

Mammootty, talking to us over the phone, said: "I will not say anything. What is there to be said?" He was speaking from the sets of his latest film 'Pokiriraja'.
Actor Thilakan is currently facing the heat from various film bodies, including the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), for his utterances against film organisations in the state.
Discussing his films, including his latest release 'Dhrona', which has not done as expected, the superstar said: "See, it was an excellent subject, but somehow it has not come out well. Mind you, this is the way films are. You win some, you lose some. When there is a setback you go back to the basics, and that is precisely what I do, and fine-tune myself for the next film."
Speaking about his next project, Mammootty said it would be the directorial debut of veteran character and comedy artiste, Jagdeesh.
"I am told that the name of the film is going to be 'Amar Akbar Antony', but don't mistake it for the yesteryears' Hindi film. It is a love story, and I play the role of a technocrat. I heard the story and am yet to see the script," added Mammootty.
The year 2009, was very good for Mammootty with eight releases and a variety of roles. He also received an honorary doctorate from the Kerala University.
However, 2010 appears to have got off on a wrong note with 'Dhrona' bombing at the box office and the Thilakan controversy adding to troubles. At the moment, the AMMA and the other film bodies are strongly behind Mammootty.
Mammootty is a three-time national award winner and into his third decade in the industry.
Veteran Malayalam actor, Thilakan had criticised film organisations for denying him an opportunity to act in the new film 'Christian Brothers'.

Mammootty and I would act with Thilakan again: Mohanlal

Feb.23 : Megastar Mohanlal has hit back at Sukumar Azhikode by clarifying that at no point had he asked the orator to play peacemaker in the Thilakan controversy.
Mohanlal in an interview to a television channel said that he had rung up Azhikode to request him to leave him alone. Mohanlal said he didn't understand why Azhikode was against his acting in jewelery ads.
Instead of responding to his request, Azhikode had asked Lal if the Thilakan issue couldn't be solved through peace talks. And Mohanlal had said that it could definitely be attempted.
Mohanlal also said that this was a matter that concerned the disciplinary committee of AMMA. And a person like Azhikode who is not even a regular cinema goer has no right to get involved in it. The megastar also said that he takes Azhikode's comments as those uttered by a senior personality and nothing more.
Mohanlal concluded by saying that he was even willing to go and meet Thilakan in person to solve the current issue. He said that both he and Mammootty would definitely act with Thilakan in the future. It's the veteran actor himself who is reluctant to act with them. If Thilakan didn't want to be a part of AMMA, he is welcome to leave the association. However there would be no ban prohibiting him from acting in films."

Thilakan's Issue - Sukumar Azhikode vs. Mammootty, Mohanlal & Innocent !!!

Thilakan, Sukumar Azhikode vs. Mammootty, Mohanlal
The war of words in the Malayalam film industry, involving veteran actor Thilakan, superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal and others, continues unabated.
Thilakan is currently facing the heat from various film workers' organisations, including the Association of Malayalam Movies Artistes (AMMA), for his utterances against some superstars and select directors.
He replied to a show-cause notice from the AMMA, saying he has done no wrong and the question of an apology does not arise.
Thilakan has been getting support from the Communist Party of India after a few legislators joined him on podium during public meetings in Kottayam and Ernakulam districts.
But the biggest cheer for him came Monday when veteran social critic Sukumar Azhikode lashed out at Mohanlal when he said the love scenes done by the superstar on screen have become unpalatable.
Azhikode also criticized Mohanlal for endorsing jewellery and found fault with him for coming to the defence of Mammootty.
Mohanlal told reporters here Tuesday that it should not be of concern to Azhikode if he was endorsing jewellery.
"I told him to leave me alone. Even Amitabh Bachchan endorses products. I see the statements from Azhikode as those made by an old man. He also advised (me) to settle the present controversy. I replied I have nothing to do on that and it has to be done by AMMA," he said.
Thilakan has been asked to appear before the disciplinary committee of AMMA March 1.
"I am yet to decide on whether I should appear or not. Several people are trying to settle the issue and I am willing to discuss it on certain conditions, which I will make at an appropriate time," he said.
Kerala Culture Minister M.A. Baby told reporters that there were a few film-based organisations and if all were willing, the government would intervene.

At least 36 killed in mosque collapse in Morocco

"Rabat (Morocco): A minaret on a Moroccan mosque collapsed Friday, killing at least 36 worshippers and injuring 70 in the city of Meknes, the official MAP news agency reported.

Authorities had not determined the cause of the accident, which occurred during Friday prayers at the Bab Berdieyinne Mosque in the historic district of Meknes, about 130 kilometres west of Rabat in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains.

About 300 worshippers were in the mosque at the time of the accident, which may have been caused by heavy rainfall in the region. The saturated earth beneath the 400-year-old minaret may have caused the collapse.
Rescue teams had to extract people from the rubble.
King Mohammed VI sent his interior minister to the accident site to coordinate the rescue work.
Meknes has about half a million residents and is an important trade and handwork centre in the north African country."

AMMA forms panel to decide action against Thilakan

"The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) Thursday formed a five member panel for deciding the disciplibary action against actor Thilakan.
The panel to be presided by AMMA president Innocent has Idavela Babu, Kunchan, T.P.Madhavan and Janardhanan as members.
According to AMMA the panel was formed because Thilakan refused to apologise for his controversial statements and also failed to give a clear reply to the show cause notice issued by the association. The panel will ask Thilakan to appear before it and provide an explanation.
Thilakan, who was served a show cause notice by AMMA to apologise or face action for his outburst against film personalities, Wednesday stood his ground and said he has done no wrong."
