Canon's new SLR Rebel is coming! - Canon Camera

Leading camera manufacturer Canon has introduced the latest SLR in its Rebel series boasting an 18 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and a wealth of other features.
It will be called EOS 550D in India. (The same model will also have two other names in the world markets: Rebel T2i / Kiss X4 Digital)
Powered by Canon’s DIGIC 4 processor with ISO 100-6400,that can be expanded to 12800 and full HD movie shooting, with manual control and selectable frame rates, it will be the best Rebel introduced so far.
It is an upgrade of the present 500D which has been a hit among the low-end wedding photographers and amateurs and was rated by many as one of the best camera from Canon. As you know, Canon introduced this series as the lowest and most affordable SLR camera line-up. (Later, the company came up with a trimmed down model without the top LCD and some other missing features --the range is now represented by EOS 1000D).
The newest member of the Canon family in several ways is a trimmed down version of the company’s recently introduced professional or semi professional model EOS 7D.
Rivals like Nikon, Olympus, Pentax and Sony have all introduced feature-rich models in the segment. Canon took its time to come up with this model. Apart from the 18 MP sensor what is important is the Full HD movie recording feature that allows manual control and selectable frame rates.
Away from the technical gibberish, what will the camera do for the segment of users it is aiming at?
Definitely , if it lives up to its specs (Canons normally do, don’t they?) it will be the one to beat in the segment. Nikon’s D5000 with its swiveling LCD and several software upgrades may offer it some challenge.
This model has some features which only the top models used to have. It can be coupled with all the modern flashguns from Canon and its great lens line-up. If you have been waiting for an SLR that can shoot very good pictures and very good movies (non-crippled full HD movie mode (1920 x 1080 at up to 30 fps, 720P at 60/50 fps, manual controls, external mic socket) and willing to part with some of your earnings this may be the one for you.
The 550D with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS is expected to cost around Rs 40,000.
